On April 2, 2009 the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus in Latvia Alexander Gerasimenko visited the administration of FEZ “Grodnoinvest”. |

In the course of the meeting there were discussed the issues of attracting Latvia investments into the economy of Grodno region. The Ambassador mentioned the great potential of beneficial collaboration of Grodno region and Latvia in creating joint enterprises. He pointed out that it is of great importance to expand the presence of Belarusian goods in the Republic of Latvia using the opportunities of Latvian sea ports.
Alexander Gerasimenko proposed to organize the visit of Grodno business circles to Latvia in June and invited the FEZ “Grodnoinvest” residents to take part in Belarusian-Latvian investment forum that will take place in Riga in October 2009. The investors from Scandinavian countries are expected to take part in the forum.

On April 29, 2009 JSC “Plant “Optic” became the first resident company of FEZ “Grodnoinvest” within the territory of Lida region which was included in FEZ “Grodnoinvest” under the Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus #134 of March 17, 2009. |

JSC “Plant “Optic” initiated the implementation of the investment project “Technical re-equipment and modernization of optical engineering”. The investment project goal is to manufacture fibre-optic goods with improved visual field purity.
