The head of FEZ “Grodnoinvest” administration visited the towns of Suvalki and Avgustov (Poland) on the delegation of the Interagency Coordination Council for complex development of the Belarusian side of the Avgustov Canal. The visit took place on June, 5 2009 within the frameworks of the State programme for the development of the Belarusian side of the Avgustov Canal for 2009-2011 which was adopted by the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus #407 of April 2, 2009. The delegation familiarized with the objects of tourism infrastructure in the Polish part of the Avgustov Canal. The negotiations were conducted with Juzef Gaevsky, the Mayor of the town of Suvalki. There were achieved the preliminary arrangements for cooperation, information sharing, tourism activity development in the territory of the Avgustov Canal. |

The negotiations on prospects for the development of investment, trade, and technological cooperation with Indian businessmen were conducted in the course of the meeting. Mr. Ramesh Chander familiarized with the conditions for business activity in the free economic zone and visited FEZ resident-enterprise “ZovLenEvromebel” Ltd.

The main purpose of the visit was to participate in the business forum “Belarusian-Latvian regional cooperation. Grodno region discovers Latvia”. FEZ “Grodnoinvest” resident enterprises "Zov-LenEVROMEBEL", "Navigator", "AminaInternational", "BelGro", "Medvatfarm", "Grodno Building Materials Plant", "Terrazyt Plus – Windows and Doors", "BelEvropaket" took part in the forum. The Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Latvia became the organizer of the event. According to the results of the forum there were achieved the agreements on investment projects promotion in FEZ “Grodnoinvest” including the opportunity of creation of a production for green-labelled cardboard using straw and flax-fibre waste. In the course of the forum the head of FEZ “Grodnoinvest” administration conducted negotiations with the director of the Latvian company “APOLLO AS” on the creation of a joint company majoring in the production of wood pellets in the territory of FEZ “Grodnoinvest”.
The head of FEZ “Grodnoinvest” administration visited the Liepaja free economic zone, the Liepaja free port, and conducted negotiations with the management of the Liepaja city council and business circles of the city. |

The investment project provides for the construction of a new factory in the territory of the free economic zone «Grodnoinvest» in the city of Lida. The enterprise will produce high-quality gauze sieves for mineral resource industry, construction industry, chemical and petrochemical industry. The project’s implementation in FEZ «Grodnoinvest» will allow to attract investments, introduce modern machinery from Germany and launch import-substitution and export-oriented production.

During the work of the exhibition there were conducted the negotiations with the representatives of Polish enterprises and organizations.
The I Economic Summit “Belarus-Poland” took place within the frameworks of the National exhibition on June 23-24. There were discussed the issues of cooperation in the spheres of energy production, banking, finance, insurance, trade, transportation, agriculture, regional collaboration and tourism.
